The Dedication of The Unsung Founders Memorial
Saturday, November 5, 10:00 a.m. at McCorkle Place on the UNC Campus

On May 11, 2005, McCorkle Place became the new home to a sculpture created by artist Do-Ho Suh and installed near Alumni Hall. Honoring the role people of color who were both slaves and free played in the building of UNC, The Unsung Founders Memorial features 300 bronze figures supporting a stone table.

The UNC Class of 2002 raised the $90,000 necessary to build the memorial and donated the work of art to UNC. It will be dedicated this Saturday, November 5 at 10 am. on the site of the memorial at McCorkle Place behind Silent Sam. The community is invited to attend this dedication.

The ceremony features Chancellor Moeser and Bernadette Gray-Little, who is Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as 2002 senior class president Ben Singer and vice-president Byron Wilson, vice president. Entertainment will be provided by student a cappella ensemble Harmonyx . Refreshments will be served. Person Hall is the rain site.
