The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department is located at the Century Center, 100 N. Greensboro St., in Carrboro. Offices are on the lower level, first floor. Recreation and Parks sponsors an array of community activities, including Carrboro's Family Fourth of July celebration, the Halloween Carnival, and the Fishing Rodeo, to name a few. The department also offers numerous programs, camps, and enrichment classes for people of all ages. These are offered year round. For more information call 918-7364.

Carrboro's largest park, the Hank Anderson III Community Park, named after a much respected community leader who passed away in 1998, is located on Highway 54, west of Carrboro past Carrboro Plaza, on the right. There's a puppy pasture (leash free area) on the left, right after you drive in, where folks bring their dogs to run and play. Click the first picture above for pictures. The park also includes:

  • Baldwin Park located on Broad Street, includes playground equipment, a multipurpose field, grill, and basketball goal.


  • Brewer's Lane Mini-Park located on Brewer's Lane, has an open space and a basketball court


  • Carrboro Elementary School located at the end of Sheldon Street, is open 3 pm until dark. Includes: Fishing at the pond at Anderson Park

  • Simpson Street Mini Park located on the corner of Simpson and West Main, has a swing, picnic table, and an open space.


  • Town Commons Play Area located on West Main Street next to Town Hall, has playground equipment (ages 2-5) and a large open space play area.

  • Wilson Park located off of North Greensboro St, just past the Estes Dr. intersection, on Williams St., on the right, includes:
