Orange County in the fall is a wonderful sight to behold. The crisp autumn air is a perfect mix with the artwork that weaves its way through the hills and valleys peppered with reds, oranges, and golds. Artists prepare to open their studio doors and allow admiring art lovers to enter their inner sanctums.
We headed out 54W in our quest for art. Two of the artists we visited were Kara Ikenberry and Susan Wells. A leafy walk led to a big barn which housed the work of the artists.
Kara's intricately designed pottery melds colorful twisted faces together giving new meaning to two-faced (and even three faced). Ikenberry also creates other interesting clayware pieces. She also works in metal, creating artwork as well as pieces such coat racks, candlesticks and other artful welded items.

Susan Wells makes beautiful, functional pottery including mugs, cups, bowls, pitchers, vases, plates and pots. She also creates unique "altars" that are little scenes set in clay. She creates at Maidenhair Studio in Cedar Grove.
