January 23 - April 3 2010
Reception to meet the artists: Sunday January 31 from 2 - 4:30pm

Photographs by Jerry Markatos and paintings by Cornelio Campo

Jerry Markatos has been documenting the Latino experience both in the USA and Central America for many years. He has photographed health clinics in Guatemala, NC exchange teachers visiting and working in Mexico, and issues facing local Latino communities in North Carolina. He has also worked tirelessly in the field of human rights for many years and was recently given an award by the Human Rights Coalition of North Carolina.

Cornelio Campo, a native of Mexico, has lived in California and now lives in Durham. His paintings include expressive narratives of his hometown Cheran, in Michoacán, central Mexico, and his immigrant experiences in the USA.

The Friends of the Carrboro Branch Library and CHICLE plan to have lectures and programs associated with this exhibit both at CHICLE (situated in Carr Mill, Carrboro) and at the Carrboro Branch Library. For more information please call Carrboro Branch Library at 919-969-3006.
