Carrboro Film
Festival
Femme Fatale and more with Jim Carl
and Phil Seib

For our second interview, we sat down
with Jim Carl, Senior Director and Phil Seib, Cinema
Operations Manager for the Carolina Theatre. They came on the
show to talk with us about a couple of really amazing new film
series that they are starting.

The first is the Femme Fatale Series, and
it's not only bringing four great films to the Carolina, it's
also bringing four great actresses to host those films. This
is not to be missed!

On Saturday, September 16, the exclusive
presentation by Dee Wallace of Stephen Kings Cujo. This marks
the first time in cinematic history that Wallace has appeared
to host this film classic. With over 100 film credits to her
name, including The Hills Have Eyes and The Howling, Wallace
has worked as an actress, teacher, dancer and author in film,
television and stage for over thirty years. She is well known
for her starring appearance in one of Americas most celebrated
films, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, directed by Steven
Spielberg.

In a rare appearance, on Friday, October
6, Nancy Allen will host Brian De Palmas Dressed to Kill. Her
starring role in Carrie cemented her reputation as a true
femme fatale, Allen was married to director De Palma for
several years during which she starred in Home Movies, Blow
Out, 1941, The Philadelphia Experiment and Poltergeist III.
After her divorce from De Palma she scored her biggest
box-office hit with Robocop (and its sequels) in 1987.

The exclusive presentation by Jessica
Harper of Dario Argentos Suspiria on Friday October 13, marks
only the second time that she has appeared in the United
States to host this masterpiece. Harper studied voice and
modern dance and made her debut on Broadway in Hair. She later
scored her first major film role in Phantom of the Paradise.
She has over a dozen feature film credits to her name
including Love and Death, Stardust Memories, Pennies From
Heaven and Minority Report.

In another exclusive rare appearance,
Adrienne Barbeau will host John Carpenters classic The Fog on
Friday, October 20. Her career spans forty years and is still
evolving. Her film roles include Escape From New York, Swamp
Thing, Cannonball Run and Creepshow. She is well-known for her
television role of Carol in the series Maude and has recently
authored a collection of stories about her life titled There
Are Worse Things I Could Do.
A great line-up of films starring some
really amazing actresses. I know you won't want to miss this,
so click the link below more information.
Phil and Jim also mentioned the second
film series, Spotlight, which will focus more on the technical
wizards of film. The first in this installment will focus on
one of the greatest stop-motion animators in cinematic
history, Ray Harryhausen.

The event will take place on Saturday,
September 30th & Sunday, October 1st. Tickets are on sale
now for this two-day event. This series will showcase four
films:
