12:45-1:15pm - Village Band
The Village Band was organized in 1974 as a place where the parents of his students could play their instruments. No auditions are required and
everyone with an interest in music are welcome. The experience level of the membership ranged from near professional to people who hadn't played since high school, but wanted to play once again. Currently under the baton of Dr. John Fuller, the band plays 7-9 concerts a year, performing a broad repertoire -- Sousa and concert marches, show tunes, classical transcriptions, traditionalband music, and contemporary compositions.
1:30-2:20 - Milagro Saints
"Milagro Saints are a Raleigh-based Roots Rock band, with original songs written by lead vocalist and guitarist, SD Ineson. Influences are Dylan,
VanMorrison, Neil Young, The Band, Grateful Dead. Lee Kirby plays Hammond organ, piano, harmonica. Roberto Morales, lead guitar, & Mandolin, Smitty, blistering lap steel, David Kaminski, Bass, and Edouard Root, drums and backing vocals.Live, the band can take off into extended jams and solo interplay which intensify the excitement of their performances."
2:30-3:20 - Great Big Gone
Consisting of Triangle music veterans, Great Big Gone hails from the NC Piedmont and brews up a twangy blend of electrified porch picking, finger licking, roots rocking, western swinging, honky tonking Americana all garnished with a pinch of cajun.
3:30-4:20 - Carrboro High School Jazz Ensemble
The Carrboro High School Jazz Ensemble is group of serious musicians in grades 9 - 12, who are dedicated to listening, learning, performing, and sharing America's original and true form, "Jazz". The Jazz Ensemble originated in 2007 with the inception of Carrboro High School and the Carrboro High School Band Program. The group consists of standard big band instrumentation, and performs standard big band music in the tradition of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and other "jazz greats". The ensemble is under the direction of Frank Jones.
4:30-5:20 - Spoonful of Soul
Spoonful of Soul is an 8 piece powerhouse retro soul/R&B band based in the Triangle with a hard hitting rhythm section, a powerful three piece horn section and a smoking hot female vocalist. This band is guaranteed to get you up on the dance floor with some of the greatest dance tunes of the 60's,70's, and 80's.
5:40-6:30 - John Howie Jr. and the Sweetharts
Bringing together members of John Howie Jr. and the Rosewood Bluff (Chapel Hill/Durham) and The Darnell Woodies (Winston-Salem) this powerhouse of a trio features John Howie Jr. (of Two Dollar Pistols fame) on guitar and baritone vocals, the phenomenal Nathan Golub on pedal steel, and Billie Feather on upright slap bass and banjo. A trio of friends that are nothing short of captivating. With true country and rockabilly influences, the Sweethearts will leave you begging for more.
In the event of rain, all activities will move to the Century Center, located at 100 North Greensboro St. on the corners of Greensboro, Main and Weavers Streets. Carrboro Day will happen, rain or shine!
